Partnerships
Edmonton Public Schools has a long history of establishing partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, post-secondary education institutions and businesses. Some are district level while others are specific to schools, but each is created to complement the curriculum and strengthen the learning environment.
The District defines educational partnerships as mutually beneficial, co-operative relationships in which partners share values; objectives; human, material, or financial resources; roles and responsibilities to enhance learning for students. The following are examples of some of our current partnership arrangements:
- government agencies like the Canadian Space Agency provide students with learning opportunities that have a unique Canadian space science perspective and tools that can inspire them to pursue studies and careers in science and technology;
- community groups such as the Edmonton City Centre Church Corporation provide lunch and snack programs to high needs schools;
- businesses like Shaw are committed to media awareness and provide technologically enriched learning opportunities for students; and
- post-secondary institutions share best practices and research information, and ensure students have access to transitional supports to help prepare them for post-secondary education and the world of work.
